Within 6 months of being in DevelopmentSquad – achieved C squad promotion times and shown a willingness to compete at away meets.

Please see the TASC notice board at the top of the pool hall for full details of the squad promotion criteria and consideration times required (or click here).  All swimmers will have to commit to the above criteria when applying for a place in Squads.  Squad Promotion Criteria times will be reviewed on an annual basis (December) and will be percentage based on Scottish National Age Group consideration times. Each swimmer’s target times will be dependant on squad and age at end of target year.


Promotion to New Squad

When a swimmer attains the relevant promotion times for the next squad their current coach will consider all of the above criteria – if ALL of these criteria are met the squad coach of the next squad will test all the swimmers satisfying criteria and will allocate places according to the test results on the night.  Promotion to the next squad will be entirely dependant on the number of spaces available – it may therefore be the case that a swimmer may satisfy criteria but a space is not available; in this case the swimmer will have to wait until the next round of testing.  In all cases the coach’s decision as to who to promote is final.

Re-qualification for Current Squad

In December of each year the squad coaches will review all swimmers in their squad – they will look at all the criteria achieved and not achieved.  The squad coach will advise the General Management Committee of those he wishes to re-invite to join the squad for the forthcoming year.  ONLY swimmers who have met the above criteria will be invited to re-join.  Any swimmer failing to meet the criteria  will be allocated a squad appropriate to their times, attendance and technical ability if aptitude and spaces allow.  This will be advised by letter.  If aptitude and spaces do not allow the swimmer will be allowed to swim up to and including 28th February where after no space within TASC will be available to them.
